Microchipping

microchip for pets londonIn the unfortunate event of your pet going missing having your pet microchipped will maximise the chances of you being reunited with your pet. The chances of your pet losing their collar and identity tag is high but the chances of your pet losing his or her’s Microchip is zero. If your pet goes missing they will be routinely scanned by vets, dog wardens, rescue centres, etc. If you pet is Microchipped they will have their own unique identification number all linked to a central data base that holds all of yours and your pet’s contact details - all geared to shortening the time to a happy reunion as much as possible. In the unfortunate event of your pet going missing please contact Petlog to notify them. All relevant contact details and links can be found below.

Even though all of our clients at Vale Vets our registered with the Petlog database we have also included the contact details and links below to the Anibase database as your pet may have been microchipped at a previous vet or organisation.

For animals chipped outside the UK, registrations are kept on the Europet database at www.europetnet.com

Please Note: In 2013 the government announced that from 6 April 2016 all dogs in England would have to be microchipped. Dog owners will need to:

  • Have their dog microchipped and registered on one of the authorised commercial databases
  • Register the details of any new owner before they sell or give the dog away
  • Keep their contact details up-to-date on the databases
